Pupil Profiles

We hope you enjoyed reading your child(ren)’s report and profile (online for P5-7) over the weekend. Please can we request that the red profile folders are returned to school by Friday, 18th June so that we can continue these after the break. Thank you.

Sports

As part of our Sports Focus Fortnight, we are having our school sports on Tuesday afternoon this week. To comply with Covid restrictions we are having to split the school and have one session of P1-4 and one for P5-7 and keep classes in their bubbles. We are also not allowed parents in attendance this year. These will take place in our playground and be just races this year without the potted sports elements. All equipment will be cleaned between uses. Children will require normal sports clothes, a water bottle and sun cream/hat. They have been practicing in their classes and we hope will have lots of fun.

Current focus; We move to our final Focus Fortnight this term which will focus on Sports. See this page for a list of home learning ideas linked with our current ‘Focus Fortnight.’

This week we have the following awareness days. Information and various activities for these can be found on the Interdisciplinary awareness days page.

  • Nutrition and Hydration Week – Can you drink the correct amount of water each day this week? Remember to take a refillable bottle and help take action to reduce plastic pollution for World Refill Day on 16th June
  • Diabetes Awareness Week Watch a video and find out about what Diabetes is and how to manage it.
  • Learning Disability Week The theme this year is Art and Creativity and how we stay connected. What can you find out about different disabilities – those that are easily seen and those that are not? How could you support someone with this disability in school?
  • UEFA Euro Football I’m sure many of you will be aware of the Euros starting this week – see the Sports Focus Fortnight for activities related to this
  • National Clean Air Day, 17th June There are lots of resources here to help you support less air pollution. What could you pledge to do?

Also new this week on our Family Learning Site;

  • Picture News resources (these have a News story and questions to consider) closely linked with our Focus Fortnight on Sports and recent news stories around Naomi Osaka withdrawning from the French Open after finding it difficult to speak to the media at the tournament. This also links with our Wonder of the Week – Should Sports stars be expected to do interviews? (Literacy page)
  • Also on our Literacy page we have an extra Picture News resource related to Pride Month.
  • Additional resource looking at rights associated with Refugee Day, 20th June and articles 22 and 10, (Right of the Child page)

Summer Payments to Families

Eligible families will receive support to feed their children over the summer school holidays. The payment will be made to the Parent/Guardian whom is noted as first point of contact by  the school,  as shared by the Parent/Guardian. Please contact your child’s school if you need to update any information previously shared with the school.

Woodland Trust Gold Award

We were delighted to receive our Gold Green Tree School Woodland Trust Award earlier this week. This has been led by Mr Macleod and Primary 1 with the whole school taking part in activities. To achieve this we have completed an assembly looking at how one person’s actions can make a difference, explored our local woodland and had a tree party within it as well as all our pupils planting a tree in the woods which they can watch grow and nurture. Thank you again to the Craigmonie Woodland Association members who helped prepare and then showed us how to plant over 100 tress in Craigmonie Woods in very wet weather! We have also linked to the Rights of the Child and the Global Goals while completing this work to take our own actions, enhance and learn about our sustainable local community .

Online Safety Session for Parents

We have linked with the High School to take part in a Safer Schools online safety session, led by Robert Quigley from Highland Council. This will introduce a new schools app and provide information on online safety. It will be held online on Monday, 30th August, 6-7pm through Google Meet

This has also been added to our schools calendar on the website and I will send out a reminder in the new session.
